Portable Blender – Everything You Should Know

A portable blender, is also known as a stick blender and movable blend. Some people also call it a handy blender. They were created in Switzerland in 1950 by a man named Roger Perrinjaquet and has been used in professional kitchens since about 1960. The last 30 years have since increased home usage of the appliance.

What is a Portable Blender?

A portable blender is a device used to mix ingredients. Unlike a regular blender or food processor – in which the ingredients are put into a removable bowl, the portable blender is a handheld, with ingredients staying in a regular bowl. The blender is then turned on, activating the blades for blending and pureeing the food.

What to Look for When Buying Portable Blender

The first thing that you should consider when making a purchase is what would you use a portable blender for. The more expensive versions have a higher-powered motor, which can cut through dry vegetables a lot easier than cheaper models.

The way to compare the strength is to look watt. You will find that the top-end products that can produce upwards of 400 watts. A low-cost model can only produce 100-200 watts – this is fine for mixing shakes, batter, and drinks, but may struggle with more solid food.

User-friendliness can be a big problem. Some blenders have a contoured handle for extra grip and comfort. Cheaper models may have a simple on/off setting, while the more expensive items sometimes offer various speed settings, offering more flexibility and control depending on what you are mixing.
